FAQ

Where are my notes stored?

Your notes are plain .md files stored in a folder (vault) you choose on your Mac. Kavya never uploads your files to any server. You own your data completely.

Can I sync my notes between devices?

Yes. Since your vault is a regular folder, you can sync it using iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or any file sync service. Just point Kavya to the synced folder on each device.

What is the free tier?

Kavya is free to use with up to 100 sheets. All features are available in the free tier. To create more than 100 sheets, upgrade to Unlimited with a one-time purchase from within the app (Kavya menu > Upgrade to Unlimited).

How do I upgrade to Unlimited?

Open Kavya and go to the Kavya menu > "Upgrade to Unlimited..." This opens the upgrade dialog where you can purchase unlimited sheets. It's a one-time purchase with no subscription.

How do I restore my purchase on a new Mac?

Open the upgrade dialog (Kavya menu > Upgrade to Unlimited) and click "Restore Purchase." Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any Mac signed in with the same account.

Can I open my notes in other apps?

Absolutely. Every note is a standard Markdown file. You can open your vault in VS Code, Obsidian, iA Writer, or any text editor. There is no proprietary format or lock-in.

How do I export my notes?

Go to File > Export. You can export individual sheets or entire groups as Markdown, HTML, PDF, or DOCX files.

How do I import notes from another app?

Place your .md or .txt files in your vault folder, and Kavya will detect them automatically. You can also use File > Import to bring in text files directly.

Does Kavya require an internet connection?

No. Kavya works 100% offline. The only feature that requires internet is AI Chat, which connects to the AI provider of your choice using your own API key.

What macOS versions are supported?

Kavya requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later.
