Summary
Kavya is a local-first writing app. Your notes stay on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data.
Data Storage
All your notes, files, and settings are stored locally on your Mac as plain Markdown files. Kavya does not use cloud databases, user accounts, or remote storage. You own your data completely.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal information (name, email, address)
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports
- Device identifiers
- Location data
- Browsing history
- Keystroke or input data
AI Chat Feature
Kavya includes an optional AI chat feature that connects to third-party AI services (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini). When you use this feature:
- Your API keys are stored locally on your device. Kavya never transmits them to any server other than the respective AI provider.
- Your chat messages are sent directly from your device to the AI provider you selected. Kavya does not route, store, or log these messages on any intermediary server.
- The AI providers have their own privacy policies:
You are not required to use the AI chat feature. Kavya is fully functional without it.
Network Access
Kavya only connects to the internet when you explicitly use the AI chat feature. No background network requests are made. No data is sent without your direct action.
Third-Party Services
Kavya does not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers.
Children's Privacy
Kavya does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the changes will be posted at this page with an updated date. Since Kavya collects no data, significant changes are unlikely.
